Mountain climber Ron Farb is the founder of Climb for Cancer. With this project Mr. Farb was able to combine two of his passions, the love of mountain climbing with the desire to see a cure for cancer within his own lifetime.

So far, Ron Farb has climbed five of the seven highest mountains on each of the seven continents, raising almost $1,000,000 in the process. Mr. Farb is the recipient of the Excalibur Award of 2001 for his work raising money for cancer research, an award established by the American Cancer Society.

Cancer is a devastating illness which is responsible 25% of all deaths in the United States. 2005 was the first year in 70 years that the number of deaths from cancer went down in the U.S. but there are still more than half a million people that die of cancer each year. Luckily, due to new treatments and research which is supported by organizations like climb for cancer, more than half of all people who are diagnosed with cancer survive.
